John Murphy is a freelance film editor working across drama and documentary. In 2018 and again in 2026 he was nominated for the Best Editor award by the Irish Academy. In 2022 he won the award for Irish-language feature An Cailín Ciúin (The Quiet Girl) which also won two awards at the 72nd Berlin film festival and was nominated for OSCAR and BAFTA awards in the best international film category.
His film work has premiered at festivals like Sundance, Berlin, SXSW, Toronto, Locarno, HotDocs, Sheffield, CPH:DOX and IDFA. For television, he has cut multiple award winners and a whole host of shows ranging from profiles of cultural icons in sport and music to history and politics.
