Meet The Neighbours

WATCH TONIGHT RTE ONE 7:30

I spent much of last month working on a delightful little series for Loosehorse and Scratch Films called ‘Meet The Neighbours’. I was lucky enough to work on two episodes of a four part series, one on Dundalk (dir: Sinead Murphy) which was on two weeks ago and can still be seen on the RTE Player here and tonights episode based around the Shandon Street area of Cork (dir: Sarah Barrow).
The series, now in its second series takes a look at diversity in Ireland, ten years after the first major wave of inward migration into the country and examines some of the stories of people from different backgrounds who have made their home here for the last few years.
In tonights episode we meet three distinct charachters, American Pat is coaching the Neptune senior basketball team. Despite a lackluster start, Neptune find the stride and the Corkonians travel to Dublin’s National Basketball Arena for the final. Shandon Street mosque is overflowing. Every Friday followers spill out on the street to pray. The imam, Ehab is looking for a new premises. Danielle has recently lost her job and is studying. She finds it hard to meet people and does not know if her future will be in Ireland.
I really enjoyed editing this show with the guys in Scratch and I am proud of the results.
Tune in tonight on RTE ONE 7:30 or watch it later on the RTE Player.
