On Our Way

Earlier this year, I finished the grade on a short “On Our Way” by Dublin based filmmaker Fergal Rock, who is now in the process of raising funds for its festival run. Fergal and its star Dorothy are friends of mine and I was happy to help out whatever way I could. Now its your turn, he needs your help and has setup a fundit page. Please contribute what you can here.

This is Fergal’s third short, the previous short Henry & Sunny (2009) was highly successful, screening at numerous film festivals in Ireland, U.K., Europe and the U.S.A.

The film won the public vote in the Rotterdam Film Festival’s ‘New Arrivals’ competition and the Best Cinematographer prize at the Underground Cinema Awards in Dublin 2010. Fergal was nominated for Best Director and Dorothy Cotter for Best Actress at the Feel Good Film Festival 2010 in Hollywood, L.A. You can watch Henry & Sunny at the bootom of this post

In 2011, Fergal won the BlueCat International Fellini Screenwriting Award for his feature script Calvin & Skye and was named a semi-finalist in Francis Ford Coppola’s American Zoetrope Screenplay Contest in 2012. He has directed music videos and contributes film reviews to The Mayo News and State Magazine.

A chance encounter between two lost souls leads to a night of unexpected revelations, late night coffee and bottle-smashing. Unfolding over the course of a single night, On Our Way is a hopeful tale of missed connections and second chances.

Written and directed by Fergal the film stars another good friend of mine Dorothy Cotter (Henry & Sunny, The Savage Eye) and Matthew Keenan (Henry & Sunny, The Tudors, The Clinic). With cinematography by Orla Russell-Conway, the film was edited by Nick Callan (Henry & Sunny) with myself doing the grade and Mark Henry doing the mix

Fergal is hoping to use the money raised from his fundit campaign to cover the cost of DVD duplication, marketing material (postcards, posters) and festival submissions. With the help of the public he is hoping to emulate Henry & Sunny’s considerable success on the festival circuit.
